RANDOM SAMPLING: Clinique, Murad.

I’ve mentioned on several occasions how serious I’m trying to be about taking care of my skin, and the products I’m eyeing. I’m mentioned Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream on a previous post, and how hesitant my thrifty side of me is about actually investing in it. Of course, there were brands other than Clinique, and I wanted to keep an open mind. So, like a thrifty good girl, I decided to finally get lost in the beauty and cosmetics section at the department store.

I visited two Clinique counters today. The SA at the first counter let me have some of their BB cream to try out, and she said that she’d contact me in a few days to check up on how I like the product. The SA at the second counter gave me a free consultation about which products I should use, and gave me a few product brochures to help me through which products I should try according to my skin type. Yeah, I got samples of my coveted CC Cream in Natural Fair too.

I went to a Murad counter too. Today was actually the first time I went up to any Murad counter, and it seems like a really interesting skincare brand, although it seems to be more focused on curative skincare, rather than preventive. I got samples of the Refreshing CleanserPore & Line Minimizing Hydrator, two sachets of Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture and one sachet of Anti-Aging Moisturizer for blemish-prone skin. I had just tried the Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture, and I could really feel it getting absorbed into my skin!

Asking for samples is great way to get to know a product before purchasing it. I’m really stingy when it comes to things like this, that I’d like to make sure that a product suits me well, before I actually decide to purchase. It’s easy to go back to the store to purchase, while going back to complain isn’t.

Creamy Thoughts.

I’ve been thinking a lot about BB and CC creams.

I’m an avid BB cream user. My current favorite is The Face Shop Lovely ME:EX BB Cream, but I’m an occasional user of Etude House Collagen Moistfull BB Cream as well. I’m happy with my Korean BB creams, but the drawback is that they come in only 1 or 2 shades. I’m aware that BB cream color oxidizes over time, and it settles in after a few minutes, but I was kind of hoping to get something a little bit closer to my skin shade

I was initially eyeing

Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals BB Cream, but I was a bit ticked off by its claim that one shade fits all or something. I try not to expect too much from my makeup and cosmetics, but I think I generally enjoy cosmetics more when they’re fit to the consumers’ needs.

Now, I’m eyeing The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream. God knows how intimidated I used to be by The Body Shop cosmetics. Right now, they’re pretty much have a special place in my heart!

I’ve read nice things about the All-In-One. I’ve learned that it has little color capsules that burst when applied to the skin. The All-In-One also comes in 3 shades, 1 being the lightest, and 3 being for darker skin tones, making me a little bit more at ease when it comes to shading. At least I don’t have to worry so much about looking ghastly.

Another thing I’ve been giving a lot of thought into is CC cream. I’m currently looking into Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Colour Corrector. I like that it has so much skin-nourishing benefits. Of course, it’s also good that there are 9 shades available, though I’m not sure how many of those are available in the Philippines.

Clinique has 9 shades of this, but only 5 are available in the Philippines (and probably the rest of Asia Pacific). I’m kind of on the fence about whether I’m a Natural or a Light Natural, but I hear that CC cream blends well with the skin tone, so I guess it’s not something I should worry too much about. As long as it doesn’t make me look like a kabuki doll, I guess it’s good. I don’t know when I’d be gutsy enough to actually buy this, because it retails for about Php1,850.00—Oh Lord.

Nobody can question the importance of beauty; however, greater importance should be placed on skin care. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, therefore we should keep every aspect of it at its prime of health, but of course, beauty makes everything better.:)

Masking It.

I really like relaxing and just being lazy on sundays. Today, my face gets to benefit from it because I’ve chosen to make this day a Sheet Mask Day!:)

I took a trip to Korea last January, and bought a bountiful supply of masks. My favorite masks were those from Innisfree. I think I got about 12 masks for KRW 10,000. It just irks me that I’m now down to my LAST Innisfree sheet mask. Aww. I intend to replenish my sheet mask supply SOON.

I love sheet masks! I put them on lazy days to provide extra nourishment to my skin. My face feels a lot more supple afterwards. I also enjoy putting sheet masks on when I take plane rides, because cabin air tends to be quite drying. True enough, I feel quite blooming after a good sheet mask session, almost as if my skin has gotten a bit more supple.

I live in a polluted area, and I have stressful days once in a while. All the trouble of daily life takes its toll on my skin. The least I could do is to rehabilitate it with skin care products, and to provide extra nourishment. I love sheet masks, and I’m glad to have them as part of a regular regimen.:)
